The Downey Civic Theater
The Downey Civic Theatre is a 738-seat live stage theatre owned and operated by the City of Downey and administered by the Department of Community Services. The Theatre opened on June 11, 1970 and plays host to a variety of events throughout the year. It is an all-ages venue and because it is operated by the City of Downey, no alcohol is allowed on the premises. I might point out however that the Embassy Suites in the same complex has no such restrictions.
The Downey Civic Theatre is located at 8435 Firestone Blvd. midway between the 605 Freeway on the east and the 710 Freeway on the west; adjacent to the Embassy Suites Hotel and Mimi's Cafe. Convenient, free well-lighted parking is available behind the hotel and theatre.
